Construction Progress
Framing is nearly complete on the first two levels and the contractors have begun framing the third floor. Timber framing in the central core area is in progress and the roof installation is scheduled for mid-August. The owners are busy making a gazillion decisions regarding flooring, appliances, countertops, sinks and more….
Pacific Gardens Granted Built Green Canada Designation
Pacific Gardens Cohousing has received approval as a Built Green™ project, only the second one of its size in British Columbia. Summer Potlucks
During the summer months we will be taking advantage of the spectacular outdoor environment around Nanaimo. Join us – meet the owners, find out more about Pacific Gardens and discover Nanaimo. Our picnic potlucks will revolve around outdoor activities – hiking, kayaking, cycling, etc. Below are two of the events but watch for more additions on our Events page at www.pacificgardens.ca.
Sunday, July 20
Join us for a picnic in Maffeo Sutton Park near the bandstand starting at 4:00 PM. The free performance by the Nanaimo Concert Band takes place that day at the same location and it always draws a crowd. We hope to secure a picnic table by arriving early and can chat and play first, share our picnic around 5:00 PM and enjoy the music that starts at 6:00 PM. Bring your picnic food to share, a blanket to sit on, and any outdoor toys (kites, balls, etc). The Park has lots to do so might want to spend the day there.
Sunday, August 24
We’re going to take a short hike in the Pipers Lagoon area of Nanaimo and follow it up with a shared picnic. Meet in the parking lot at 2:00 PM. See http://www.nanaimoinformation.com/pipers-lagoon.php for more information and directions.
Open Office Visits and Building Site Tours
During the summer we are offering scheduled weekly office visits and building site tours. These will take place on Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:30. Come in to our office in downtown Nanaimo at Port Place Shopping Mall and talk to the owners about the project anytime between 2:30 and 3:30.
